• Lightworks •
The Centers of Light raise funds through our fundraising effort called LightWorks. The money each Center raises through doing LightWorks projects helps that Center pay its advertising and operation costs. The Centers of Light employ this entrepreneurial method of working to raise money for a variety of reasons; one reason is so that all members can experience the power of being a co-creator with God. This underlying teaching in our Order helps us to see that if we want to create something, we can. We put the effort in and then we reap the fruits of our labors.
The various Centers of Light have different forms of LightWorks activities and projects, including fall yard clean-ups, interior house painting, clutter removal, tax services, gift wrapping, face painting at birthday parties, rosary making, crafts, and selling scarves, T-shirts, journals, bumper stickers, pictures and many other items.
• First Fruits •
One of the main venues many of the Centers of Light use to raise money is through the selling of all-fruit smoothies at local farmers markets and festivals. This fundraising activity actually has its own name, First Fruits, and its own logo. Generally we sell three flavors of smoothies made from frozen fruit, juice and a little soy or coconut milk mixed with it: they are crowd pleasers!
Our communities enjoy getting out in our cities, meeting people, and raising funds through First Fruits or LightWorks activities. It is empowering to raise the money that helps run our Centers and is also used to pay for advertising so that others can know what the Centers of Light have to offer.
